Where You Are

and you’re about to leave
you pause and you wait at the door
when you walk through those streets
it won’t be like before

when you were all alone
no one to call your own
drifting from scene to scene
endlessly wondering

where is the place I need to be
where is the face I’m meant to see
where is the point where everything starts
you know it’s where you are

and you’re bidding your time
and go the way that you always do
to the river and along by the quays
but the city seems different to you

you wanted to get away
no one to make you stay
nothing was new for you
you had something to prove

where is the place I need to be
where is the face I’m meant to see
where is the point where everything starts
you know its where you are

you are you are
you are you are

and you turn onto George’s Street
so many people passing by
you’re searching the faces you meet
and then you catch her smile

and now you’re here with me
this is the place to be
i have the clearest view
when I feel the nearness of you

this is place I need to be
this is the face I’m meant to see
this is the point where everything starts
you know its where you are
you know its where you are
