The Limits of Longing

we arranged a
time and place where
we would meet
again

and you went travelling
around the world
for you were searching
then

nothing can come
between us now but
distances and
time

and I won’t be content
until I feel our paths
align

for I’ve been to the
limits of longing
I had come so far
alone
when you can’t put your
finger on it
when you heart’s somewhere
unknown

and I’ve been to the
limits of longing
how far and wide
I’d roam
now I’ve found a place
to belong in
for I’ve come to
bring you home
for I’ve come to
bring you home

The sky is clear
this vacant stare
says I’m not here
at all

My mind is out there
Wandering
exactly where
You are

you’ll find me when
your journey ends
a place and time we knew

sitting on a bench
in Central Park
waiting for you

for I’ve been to the
limits of longing
I had come so far
alone
when you can’t put your
finger on it
when you heart’s somewhere
unknown

and I’ve been to the
limits of longing
how far and wide
I’d roam
now I’ve found a place
to belong in
for I’ve come to
bring you home
for I’ve come to
bring you home
