in the light of the morning
you can see a better way
where people are marching
cause they know things will change
and as the vision fades away
and things remain the same
where silence and confusion
are just another day
the writer summed it all up
things he’ll never comprehend
as we’re not who we says we are
and still he want us to pretend
that he didn’t get it wrong
time and time again
the failure of his fantasy
is what we’re living in
and it’s not enough to tell us
everything will be ok
it’s not enough when
what you mean is
don’t get in our way
our silence screaming like a gale
as we are led astray
the sermon of the prodigal
of a father shocked to see
so playful a spirit
broken by brutality and
how suffering can bestow
a greater authority
than minsters can muster
than clerics could conceive
and it’s not enough to tell us
everything will be ok
it’s not enough when
what you mean is
don’t get in our way
our silence screaming like a gale
as we are led astray
and it’s not enough
and it’s not enough
enough
enough
